I can’t say the level of knowledge the general person had during the time period of the writing. Based on the authors own writing I believe the author lacked understanding even the grade school explanations for gravity and the physical world around us.

The author claims that water always seeks its level. He claims that wouldn’t be possible if we lived on a globe because when we take water and pour it onto a sphere the water falls off. It’s all too common to hear the claim about water level disproving a globe model and each time it gives me a facepalm moment 🤦‍♂️ .

It’s unknown exactly how the author believes gravity works because he contradicts himself in different “proofs” he claims.

There really are only a few “proofs” explained in this text and they are all pretty easily explained.

I get the feeling the author was a thoroughly oppositional individual which prevented him from even attempting to puzzle through his lack of understanding basic grade school lessons.

While I’m not opposed to a belief in a flat earth cosmology I am opposed to using one’s misunderstanding and lack of knowledge as a flimsy basis for their claim.
